When you first start out in internet marketing – as a work from home model – you’re immediately bombarded with the hugely impressive looking benefits of hundreds of products and systems and quite frankly you’re baffled.

You buy a couple of products and make a start, but then you see another one that looks EVEN BETTER and you get that one too… and before long you’ve lost track of how many products you haven’t even taken for a test run. What’s more, you’re still buying new ones.

Are you turning nuts?

Well, if you are, don’t worry, it happens to everyone.
So what’s the solution for this madness, except for giving up the whole idea and going for a holiday to rest your burnt out eyes?

You’re familiar with the concept of mentorship and coaching, right? But hey, you probably thought, I’m not paying someone money to teach me stuff I can teach myself at home. Am I close?

Or maybe you’d tried a mentor and that mentor sort of disappeared not long after your bank transfer was confirmed. Hm. So what do you do?

Well, you could go back to some of theose products you bought and try opening them and learning them and applying what they teach. Big sigh. I hear you. Feel like hard work. And you probably work hard enough as it is and you’re wife or husband is poking his or head round the door again, with that look that says, What the hell’re you doing in there? It’s vaguely smutty. You feel guilty. Deeply frustrated.

You could plough on. But there is a better way…

You’ve had good teachers and bad teachers, right? Well, let’s hope so;) Finding a good teacher can be lucky. But you can also find a good one by doing some research.

Look for someone who consistently provides you with good content and is genuinely generous with his or her time. Someone who will be there for you long after you’ve paid him or her the upfront fee.

Find a Generous Marketing Mentor and they are worth their weight in gold.

If you haven’t realised it already, internet marketing from home, while providing many life style benefits 99% of the population may envy, is at times a solitary, even lonely existence. And it can be gruelling until the money starts coming in.

An email from a friend telling you you’re great, or, ‘Stick at it, you’ll make it’, isn’t the same as a pat on the back. So if you’re doing this all by yourself, you’re going to find this pretty tough.

With a generous marketing mentor, you suddenly find you have acquired not only a teacher, but a friend. You have found someone you can call upon when you get stuck, someone who has invested in you and can offer different perspectives on your situation and no one else’s.
Not all ‘mentors’ do much coaching.

Not all mentors will give you hands-on, 1-2-1 tuition. From experience, my advice is this: get into some emails and Skype chats before you sign up to a mentor and a ‘system’. Only then should you part with your money. Only then will you feel confident you have found yourself… a Generous Marketing Mentor.
